Goose on the Green Roof
GooseWatch 2010
In late March, staff on the Library’s third floor noticed a couple of familiar feathered visitors strolling outside their offices and, occasionally, peeking through their windows. Over the next few days, our goosetrackers spotted two Canada geese inspecting last year’s nesting spot on the Library's green roof. By early April, one of the geese was fully nested. She hasn't left that nest, and she probably won't until early May when her goslings are ready to hatch.
Now YOU can follow the story as it unfolds on our green roof, any time of the day or night. The Skokie Public Library GooseCam will broadcast real-time streaming video of the Goose on the Green Roof. Take a look!
GooseCam is off the air as of May 4, 2010. After an overnight stay in the Library's courtyard, the elder geese and all six goslings were safely relocated to the Northshore Channel near Oakton Street. Follow our GooseWatch 2010 photostream and The Explorer blog for updates.
