Remote Access to Database Resources
Acceptable Use Policy
All Skokie residents, organizations, and businesses who have been issued a Skokie Public Library card are automatically registered to use the Library's remote access services. The Library card barcode and cardholder's last name are used for authentication. Your access to remote resources will expire at the same time your Library card expires.
Skokie Public Library makes these databases available for use by registered Library cardholders only; by license agreement, they may not be used by individuals, businesses, or institutions not registered with Skokie Public Library. These resources are made available for reference use only. Use of database content is governed by copyright and vendor license agreements. Contents may not be compiled, copied, or redistributed in a manner contrary to the provisions of these laws and agreements. Skokie Public Library will suspend Library privileges and revoke accounts of patrons found to be in violation of these policies.
Users may not do anything to damage or compromise the integrity of the Library's remotely accessible resources. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Divulging to another person or institution your Library account information for their use
- Excessive downloading of data
- Using or allowing others to use data to compile, enhance, verify, supplement, add to or delete from any mailing list, geographic or trade directories, business directories, classified directories, classified advertising, or other compilation of information which is sold, rented, published, furnished, or in any manner provided to a third party.
