Welcome Home, Flat Stanley!
April 28, 2004
In November
and December 2003, visitors to the Skokie Public Library Youth Services Department had an
opportunity to participate in a Flat Stanley Sendoff during National
Children's Book Week. Patrons of all ages made their own Flat Stanley
cutouts, started a Travel Journal, and then reached into the "tiny suitcase"
to randomly select a destination for Flat Stanley to visit. Flat Stanleys
were sent to places near and far: a local home builder, Colorado,
Florida...even the Caribbean and South Africa!
On April 28, 2004, the
Youth Services Department welcomed home all of the Flat Stanleys at a Welcome Home, Flat Stanley! party in the Mary Radmacher Meeting Room.
Children, families, and several of Flat Stanley's "hosts" joined us for flat
snacks and a slide show of pictures from all of Flat Stanley's adventures.
We even made life-sized Flat Stanley cutouts to take home!
If you made a Flat Stanley at the Library last fall, please stop by the Youth Services "Ask Here" desk to pick up your Flat Stanley photos and story. In the meantime, take a look at all of the places Flat Stanley visited!
