Harry Potter Midnight Madness
June 20, 2003
Two hundred children in grades four through eight came to the Library and stayed long past closing for fun, games, and to cheer the midnight release of J.K. Rowling's fifth book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The evening's activities included a big-screen presentation of the movie Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (complete with popcorn!), a Quidditch match, servings of Butterbeer and dragon's eggs, and a Harry Potter Readiness Review. Five minutes before the midnight release, twenty lucky children were selected by raffle to check out the Library's copies of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Take a look!
