The Youth Services staff invites you to schedule a class visit to Skokie Public Library. We will tailor the visit to meet the information needs and reading level of your students in kindergarten through 8th grade. All Library visits will include a grade-appropriate tour and time to select and check out books.
Kindergarten and 1st grade students enjoy stories in addition to the tour. Students in 2nd grade learn how books are organized on the Library shelves and listen to short descriptions of ten different books perfect for beginning readers. Students in 3rd and 4th grade exercise their Library skills by finding the answers to our “Treasure Hunt.” Tours for students in 5th through 8th grade focus on research skills using both print and computer resources. Please schedule time to visit us this school year so that you can share with your students all that the Skokie Public Library has to offer!
Library visits may be scheduled between October 2, 2013 and April 30, 2014 on Monday afternoons from 1:00 to 2:30pm and Wednesday or Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 11:00am. Contact Jenny Wilkin at 847.972.5645 or to reserve a date for your Library visit.
NEW! Read the Library's social story about going to the Library. This short story, written from a child's point of view, is meant to help children learn appropriate social behavior in the Library. With short sentences and colorful photos, it is appropriate for children on the autism spectrum as well as those who are not.
