Beach Series/Mexico Series by Ann Ponce
April 1 through 30, 2004 in the East Lobby and second floor landing
Artist Ann Ponce has been
involved with painting and teaching art for almost thirty years in Denver,
Indianapolis, and Chicago. Classically trained in art, she studied at
Indiana University and the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in
Denver, Colorado, where she later taught. Later, she taught classes in
Portraiture, Figure Drawing, and Painting at the Evanston Art Center. Now
teaching from her own studio, Ann leads an open painting group on Friday
afternoons at Gay Riseborough's Studio at 1123 Florence in Evanston. Her
work is in many private and public collections.
Her stunning and vivid paintings are organized by series. The Library will exhibit selections from her Mexico Series, depicting the color, life, and beauty of the Mexican people and her Beach Series, depicting families, adults, and children enjoying summer in Chicago and surrounding areas.
